The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Good: We have somehow managed to avoid really bad weather so far this year.

Bad: We were forced to wait 16 hours for a load Thursday afternoon until Friday morning at Central Freight in Irving TX.

Good: While waiting at Central Freight, I was able to surf the web and check email using their service.  I also browsed their computer network, all by simply powering on the wireless 802.11g card in the laptop.  They have an unsecure network which broadcasts its SSID, so poking around their network was no problem. So remember, Central Freight in Irving TX is a "wireless hot spot".

Bad: We had to wait on a PM in Gary IN.

Ugly: Our truck, 2004 Freightliner Century S/T number 39789, needed warranty work done for a leaking driveline seal and a fuel pump that was leaking onto the ECM (Electronic Control Module), extending our wait.

Interesting names

Who can say they have been to such interesting places such as Batman's secret hideout, the Bat Cave. Here's another view.
Have you ever heard someone utter "Holy Moses!" Well, click here and now you know where Holy Moses Wash is.  Here's a map and picture of where it crosses I-40 southwest of Kingman AZ.
And what trucker wouldn't want to be in the hammer lane? Well, too bad, because it's in California and trucks are allowed neither in the hammer lane nor on Hammer Lane in Stockton.  Here's a photo at I-5, milepost 478.

Perspectives

Lori pointed out to me that I tend to log "just the facts" and do not make entries regarding the good things that happen on the road. In reviewing my entries, I see she is right (as she usually is)... what a boring 'blog I have created! I guess it comes from my years in the military writing performance reports and compilations of statistical data (which is why I retired & went truckin' in the first place). From now on, I will log things that make Truckin' a job that is "worth the trip".
